StarIndex® is a secured access members only website featuring technology and a software platform that aggregates quality, financial, clinical, process, and patient-centered and caregiver-centered measures, as well as publicly reported scorecards of healthcare organizations with respect to hospital business management practices. It then presents the results through web-based reports. StarIndex uses a proprietary algorithm to assess and weight the relative value of each measure and scorecard in terms of quality and patient safety towards a global score called a StarScore®. StarScore is a website provider that reports the actual and expected performance with respect to consumer services of healthcare organizations, across the dimensions of high-performance quality care, sustainability, trust, transparency, accountability, reliability, and risk. The StarScores of organizations are presented in the StarIndex framework, which allows relative comparisons among organizations according to size and region.
An organization with a StarScore of 5 out of 5 stars is considered to be a best-achievable performer on quality and patient safety for its size and region. An organization with a StarScore of 0 stars is considered to be performing below acceptable standards, and would be considered unsafe for patients and their caregivers.
In addition, StarIndex provides services to all healthcare value-chain stakeholders through its software as a service platform (SaaS):
