Camille Ciarniello is the Executive Director for Quality, Patient Safety and In-House Counsel for Providence Health Care in Vancouver, BC, Canada.

Besides providing advice to health care providers on risk issues particular to clinical care, Camille has developed a patient safety program with a focus on just culture, transparency and accountability that encourages the adoption of evidence based best practices in high-risk areas, and seeks to improve communication at all levels of care.  Camille introduced her organization to Dr. Huddleston’s work in 2017 following a TMIT webinar, and has continued to promote and facilitate the organization’s ongoing engagement and investment in the Safety Learning System Collaborative.

Camille graduated from Nursing in 1982 and practiced as a critical care nurse for 18 years. She obtained her Baccalaureate in Nursing and law degree from UBC and was called to the BC bar in 1999. She worked for several years in private practice before the opportunity arose to combine her two areas of expertise. She obtained her Patient Safety Officer certification from the Institute for Healthcare Improvement in 2004.
