Webinar Note: Don Berwick Nomination to be CMS Administrator: TMIT is taking an independent, non-partisan position that Dr. Don Berwick would be a terrific leader of the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS).
An administration official says President Barack Obama will nominate healthcare scholar Donald Berwick, MD, to be CMS Administrator. Berwick, a pediatrician and noted health policy expert, is president and CEO of the not-for-profit Institute for Healthcare Improvement in Cambridge, MA. The timing of the nomination is important because Berwick, if confirmed by the Senate, will take over an agency that has not had a permanent chief executive since Mark McClellan stepped down in 2006.
Berwick's nomination, which requires Senate confirmation, has some opposition. To support Dr. Don Berwick's nomination for CMS administrator, contact:
