This website is dedicated to our 5 Rights of Imaging Children® Program.

Overuse, underuse, and misuse of imaging services are a major opportunity to reduce healthcare harm and waste – especially for children. The risks of ionizing radiation and incidental findings in children can have very serious consequences to their long term health. Consistent with our mission of saving lives, saving money, and creating value in communities, The 5 Rights of Imaging Children® campaign is complementary to and supportive of Image Gently™, Image Wisely™, and Choosing Wisely™ programs.

Our services include the following:

  • Concepts, tools, and resources that allow both consumers and caregivers to ensure that high performance imaging occurs with every patient encounter. Such tools include checklists, smartphone applications, and guides for both clinical personnel and consumers – offered through our website. Content unique to children will be provided so that parents and caregivers can be fully apprised of reducing risk and optimizing care.
  • Educational programs that generate education credits for caregivers and parents that will entitle learners to earn certificates, college credits, continuing education credits, and qualify for incentives to reduce healthcare insurance costs.
  • Webinars and national meetings will be undertaken for synchronous learning and to provide advisory support; and a learning management system will be provided to enable learners to gain new knowledge and skills asynchronously.
  • Business advisory services, including business analytics, to help caregivers and their patients' families ensure that they are making the Right Study choice; that the Right Order of the study is performed; that the study is undertaken in a manner following recommended guidelines – the Right Way; and that the Right Report is generated that can drive the Right Action by caregivers and patients – with the goal being the best outcome possible for children with the least risk.
  • Additionally, through our collaboratives we are performing numerous research activities in the field of medical imaging of children, especially to determine how much radiation has been given to a patient and how to maintain records of that information over the life of the child.
